07 XB12R @ 9000 miles had dealer replace
leaking rocker cover gaskets. Now @ 18000
miles rear is leaking again. Gonna change them myself due to issues with the dealer and the way they
worked on the bike and had to fix their mistakes. Any tips or ideas on how to do it or make things easier ? Thanks for the help !!!!!

Ensure the surfaces involved are clean and bone dry prior to mounting the new gaskets. You don't want any oil or film of any kind to prevent good sealing and adhesion.

If you don't have a service manual, get one.

Wish I had a secret. I followed the manual. The engine was out of the bike when I did it, for other work. I didn't have any pitfalls, to speak of.

!! HELP !!

Ok, I know this is already on this board somewhere but I just could not find it. I need to replace my rear rocker cover gasket - '02 X1W just over 6500 miles. I remember reading once upon a time to replace both the front and rear even if they were not leaking because the factory gaskets were crap.

Does any body have step by step instructions on how to change these gaskets and info on any pitfalls I need to watch for?

I have the factory service manual, but guess I need part numbers for the replacement gaskets and as I said any and all information I need to complete the job.

Thanks,

Bob

I am currently replacing the rocker box gaskets on my 2000 m2, and I was wondering, after I clean all the bolt holes and bolt surfaces, should I lubricate the bolts prior to installing them?, and if so does anyone know the proper lubricant? I have the service manual but haven't found any info.

It's steel in aluminum, so I would use anti-sieze, or if I didn't have that, lock-tite blue.

Doesn't it say in the service man to use engine oil on the bolt faces?....
remember reading it some where in there.
