How best can I get some aluminum black? I am not sure which is best and the most reasonable cost and can be a do-it-yourselfer. Is there a stain, wash, paint, anodizing or powder coating that meets the above criteria? I do not think the items I want to treat will be exposed to much in the way of chipping from road stuff. | ||

If you want to use a more dedicated product than ordinary spray paint, there are metal blackening kits and various speciality coatings at Eastwood Company. They have underhood paints in gloss, semi-gloss and flat that resist chipping and road wear, for instance. Car restorers swear by these products so you know they have to be good. | ||
