this is second pair of white power forks iv put on my 98s1w,just bought a set off ebay and had them rebuilt by the local dealer. i put them on a went a down the road and did a wheelie and smashed the new forks as well. when i say smashed, i mean the upper tube hits the lower tube that holds the axle, and smashes the lip that holds the seal c clip. the first set was smashed when i bought the bike, i thought it was from the owner before me doing wheels with no oil in them. any one ever seen this happen before?

I've not ever heard of that happening before. Sounds like the oil level might have been too low and/or compression damping too light.

Sounds to me like someone modified the fork's internals to allow more travel. Enough travel that the forks don't bottom out before colliding. I have trouble imagining a fork design that would EVER allow that "smashing" to occur under ANY circumstance.

Just off hand I would say that the proportioning valves in the upper end may be bad. If I were to adjust them to far out (and of course then some) it would allow way to much fluid to pass thru on compression. And if the O rings were leaking by it may bypass the valves. Hey just a couple options. And if all the air did not get out also.

That was my thought as well, as it would also leave the oil level low, which hurts overall/effective compression spring-rate.
