Has anyone found a clean way to mount some small oil pressure and temperature gauges to their XB? I'd really like to, particularly because I live in a very cold climate, but not sure where I'd mount some gauge cups.

Got a 2" dual head temp mounted to my flyscreen and a 2" oil temp/press combo gauge mounted on the left side handle bar. Still need to plumb in the oil sensors right at the oil feed entry on the oil cooler. Shouldnt be too difficult from the looks of things. Got both gauges from http://www.westach.com/ Will send a pic if I can figure out how to do that..

Yes, that is exactly what I am looking for. This will probably suit my needs: http://www.westach.com/gauge_images/2DC3.gif

I might want to match it with something useful on the other side, but yes, please provide a pic with your setup. Thanks!

Be sure and order the light kits and proper mounts. The dash mount works perfect on the screen, while the handle bar mounts work great on the bar. Pricey, but darn good instruments..so far. The cyl head temp gauge meter arms tend to move around a bit at road speed. Need to figure out a dampening system to keep them fixed. Rear cyl runs around 280-300, while the front 325-350. Got a Rt side rear cyl scoop installed, so might be interesting to see what happens without it? Probably could have gotten a 60 or even 40 psi pressure gauge as these Buells apparently dont put out more that 20?? Why is that I wonder?

I reckon the oil pressure doesn't need to be as high in a scavenging dry sump system. I think the bar mount looks really good. What do you think about running a beefier, more finished looking mount like this? http://autometer.com/cat_mountsdetail.aspx?vid=29& sid=26&mid=4&pg=0

Could run a rubber spacer on the inside to take up the difference inside the clamp.

Our bikes run roller bearings not plain bearings so the higher pressure is not needed. IAW the service manual my S's run about 17 PSI.

Update:

Got the temp/pressure sensors installed and the gauge operating..

Pressure, when fully warmed, runs about 18psi at idle and between 35-40psi at 70mph. Temp runs around 160max during 90f days. Normal??

Interesting info, didn't think the XB had gone to plain bearings. Now I will have to get hooked up this winter and see what my bikes run.
Thanks
Joe
