OK, I have a bit of a problem. I tore into my Uly this evening to swap out the primary drive gears. Got to the point of putting the new sprocket and chain in place when I discovered the XB9 engine sprocket will not fit on the crank. The splined hole in the sprocket is too small.

My question is this, does the 08 XB9 have the same larger crank as the XB12, or am I stuck with the stock gearing in my Uly?

Skyclad - I don't know for sure, but one of the changes to the 08 motors was a larger crank pin. Perhaps they bumped up the shaft size to match?

If that is the case, one would think the primary from an 08 cityX would fit.

I spoke with the parts department at my dealer today. The part number for the XB9 engine sprocket did change from the 07 to the 08 model years. Seems that I was given the wrong part. I was told that the dealer would be eating the restock fee and getting me the correct sprocket.

Good dealer might be a keeper.

Oh yeah, Lancaster H-D is definitely a good dealer. Sales/service/parts...all understand Buells and have respect for the brand (current snafu not withstanding).

For anyone within easy ride distance, you really should check them out. I have nothing but good things to say about them (and no, I don't work there).
