Dealer says I have a bad induction module and that it is an unserviceable part. They told me that HD no longer makes this part and no longer in stock. Dealer wants $1700 to convert to carburetor. Any help would be appreciated since Myrtle Beach rally is around the corner. The bike seems like it is running on one cylinder after a mile down the road. I pull over and have to hold throttle about ½ to ¾ open to keep bike running. After a little bit the bike seems to run enough to get me home.

Replaced plugs and wires
Installed: screaming eagle cams, force intake and exhaust, race ECM, catch can, and some head work.
Please help
Cary

Run, do not walk, run away from that dealership.

1. There is no such thing as an "induction module", at least I've never heard of one in my ten years on BadWeB.

2. If all you need is an engine control module, you can obtain one from any competent Buell dealership. See any of our dealership sponsors. Ditto for the cam postion sensor.

You have a lot of modifications to your bike, so it makes diagnosis more difficult. Check all the basics, including good electrical grounding. Check the kickstand safety switch, check the intake manifold seals for air leaks, check fuel injectors...

Check for trouble codes and faulty sensors, O2 sensor, intake air temp sensor, cylinder head temperature sensor...

Thanks I will try your suggestions and keep you updated on the repair. The engine light does not come on during the ride when my bike starts to act up. I’m going to try the factory ECM this after noon. I have the breather filter off now and looking for bad gaskets. I have also eliminated the kickstand switch.

How can I check the fuel injectors?

Thanks again for your Help

For some reason Cycle Rama comes to mind as a good place to talk with. Not sure how close they are to Myrtle Beach, but I do know that they are closer to Reality than that dealership you went to. ; ) Plus they're good with modified bikes.

A Google search turned this up:
http://buelltuning.free.fr/injang.htm

quote:

Induction Module

The Induction Module is located between the two cylinder heads. The Induction Module consists of a (43mm) single bore throttle body and intake manifold. The throttle body contains the TP sensor, manual idle speed adjuster, throttle plate and linkage for the throttle cables. The intake manifold contains the fuel rail and two fuel injectors. There is one fuel rail connecting the feed line to the injectors. Excess fuel is relieved by the Fuel Pressure Regulator inside the fuel tank.

I would hope that price would include the tuning of the "buretor". Either way a ran away from that dealer as soon as I heard the high value of the repair. I have always wrenched on my own bike. I was running out of time so the dealer was the next option. NEVER AGAIN!

OK I tried spraying some carb cleaner around where the intake manifold goes into the cylinder. The bike seemed to loose idle speed which makes me believe that there could be a leak. I am ordering new seals for the entire intake manifold. I have never change the fuel filter so that is another thing I’m going to change. Everything else looks ok so I may replace the ECM, O2 sensor as trouble shooting guides to eliminate theses items. I have factory ECM and another CO2 sensor. Maybe the problem is the coil or something, I don’t know.
Thanks again for your help

Which cylinder was running cold? Check for codes? I had this happen to my S3 until it put a hole in the rear cylinder.
