nice weather is here and with the gas prices, I cant wait to ride.. heres my problem though. My bike runs very rough and spits and sputters for the whole ride. its about a 40 mile ride to work and i filled up on my way in this morning. On my way home, i hit my low fuel light and put in 2.5 gallons.. any ideas? I wanna get a cable and try ecm-spy to see if i can find out what is wrong but if theres something obvious that i should look at until i get the cable please point it out to me. when im riding, it sounds like the airbox is going to pop off. is it a bad 02 sensor? how can i check? |

First, I'd check all the usual stuff like the condition of spark plugs and plug cables. Then find the data connector under the fairing, jumper pins 1 & 2 together and turn the key on to see if there are any error codes. There is a lot of info in the Knowledge Vault here on the BadWeB regarding error codes and how to retrieve them if you do a search. |

I was just going to say that on my 2005 XB9SX this spring, I was getting about 50-60 miles per tank, and I was getting an O2 sensor fault. My rear spark plug was completely fouled out. So I would say priority one is change or at least check the spark plugs. |

I ride a 03 lightning xb9s. lately I have been finding on cold/cool days she runs like a champ. but on warmer days 70F+ she starts to lug on me at around 3500 to 4000rpms after she warms up. some times even back firing and stalling. I replaced the battery and spark plugs this spring and have run fuel system cleaner through the tank. has anyone had a similar problem and/or any ideas on what I should do next? |

If you have ecmspy datalog your bike after it has run up to temp and then check the status of your intake air temp sensor in megalogger. My bike does the same thing after about two hours of riding and the sensor goes into the red. All the oil on it from before the hose reroute must have changed its output range I would say. Only comes up as a fault after a long ride. |
