I've been away from the forums for a while, but I have an '04 12S with the TFI, semi topless, race ECM, Drummer, de-snorkled, blah blah blah. Anyway, I've tried all the different pot settings I've seen here to no avail. First, I dislike the 4K RPM surge, but I guess there's not much you can do about that. Mainly, ,y bike will ping like crazy if I get on it in moderately warm weather. I've even tried reverting to the stock ECM and removing the TFI, closing the airbox back up, etc. and it pings even more! I've checked static timing, reset TPS, etc.

Does anybody make a sure-thing programmer for these bikes? I seem to recall something from American Sport Bike which involved an ECM swap and allowed you to attach a laptop (??)... What's the current hot ticket to keep these things running cool?

Steve.

Al has something that can help and you should also search for ECMSPY.

I've never been a fan of in line modules that trick or dumb down the DDFI system, because these modules do not take into account Adaptive Fuel Value curves. You should find a facility with a Dyno and can reprogram your ECM through ECMSpy or DirectLink, purchase said device, remove TFI and tune your ECM directly.

Here's some success we've had with DirectLink:

Hope this helps,

Chris

Anybody know a good Directlink tuner in the SoCal area?
