Hey guys. New to posting on this forum, but i've lurked in the shadows for a while. Usually i can find what i need on here, but couldn't find quite what i wanted today. First off, i've got a bone stock 07 xb9r.

A few weeks ago, i was riding along and the bike stuttered a bit for a second or two. It felt like one of the cylinders stopped firing. I gave it a little more throttle and it seemed fine again. It has done this occasionally ever since. I usually just make short trips (10 minutes or less), so the engine is never getting very hot. I just assumed it was a fouled plug, so i looked at them and changed the rear plug..and destroyed my wire. Currently, i have a wire that i got from o'rileys that i sorta hillbilly rigged on there (i'm going to fix it right when i get a chance). It seems to work okay, but it hasn't really fixed the problem. A few days ago, the bike just lost all power (but was still running) for about 20 seconds.

Also, i've noticed that the bike doesn't have that high pitched whine when you put the key in and flip the kill switch. It's a lot quieter and it isn't as high pitched anymore. It almost sounds like a groan in comparison to how it should sound.

I don't seem to have a loss of power (when it runs normally), the bike idles perfect at about 950 rpm, and i have no trouble starting it. I can hook it up to a diagnostic machine if anyone thinks it'll help, but the check engine light isn't on. Just please tell me my fuell pump isn't dying.

I am fine working on the bike myself. I have plenty of tools and am VERY mechanically minded. If i take take something apart, i can put it back together. I've done some wrenching on my bike already and am completely comfortable with it.

I need to get this fixed as it's my only means of transportation right now.

What "wire" are you talking about? : ?

From what you say, it sounds like the bike is running fine, but is making strange/different noises?

What exactly is the problem and the associated symptoms?

I noticed my race kitted 05 12R doing similar things. while I checked a few of them out. I had to replace the plugs and wires. fouled my front Cyl. due to the plug wire shorting when I washed her, and at $5 for a pair for plugs,, cheep insurance. The plug wires obviously were mangled by the previous moron and/or Mechanic that took them off before I owned the bike, because I founds cuts in the insulation, and a retainer clip missing on the coil side of that front Cyl.yeah,, the the dust cap was barely on the post of the coil.. there was my studder... so I thought..

Well the latest development was I would be riding and for a split second the bike would loose all power and then turn back on. the head lights would just dim, not go out. I seen my gages max out and go to normal, while riding. last Sat. I stoped off to get gas and turned the key on. and flicked my switch. then hit the button. I got a "CLICK" and ALL power was gone,,, Not a damn thing was there. So I wiggled a few things and pushed a few wires. flicked this F-ed with that,,, still nuthing. So I had the seat off and suspected the battery due to sluggish starts. conections are tight... Hmmm. then I remembered somthing an old biker said to me, (I Called him snaggle tooth). (For obvious reasons.) he told me that HD's tend to rattle the plates of batteries loose and then they suddenly won't work.. So I turned my key on flicked my switch,, nothing coming on still,, so I did what farm boys do best... I punched the friggin thing that pissed me off. Holy shnikies. we have full power.... As of now,, I am in serch of a battery. HD/Buell wants $79,Ehhh ok but that is dealer price. Interstate wants $99 and it ain't even a sealed cell battery.. F-that... Anyone have any recomendations???? A place up here called Standard battery has a sealed cell for 59 bones But I dunno,, is it to low budget for quality? Does Optima make a Battery for buell????
