Bought a new '08 Uly, and when I was signing papers I asked the guy at the parts counter to set me up w/ enough filters/dino fluid for 2 services. Wrapped the deal, took my bags and rode away.

As I was unpacking, I was expecting to see H-D Formula+...but saw 2 quarts of H-D Sport Trans fluid. Says its good for all XL and XR's post 1975.

Can I use it?? It is break in stuff, and won't be in for > 1K miles, +/-, but I have a good trip planned w/ lots of slab shortly after break-in.

They are clearing out their old inventory -- but you can only use it in the primary (to clarify, it's NOT engine oil) so it's not exactly what I'd term "break in". But not a bad idea to do after a few thousand miles.

It'll work fine in the tranny. No worries.

Thanks...I hate oils stories, but was wondering on this since everything says Formula+.

I got regular old dino H-D 20-50 for the engine, and the SortTrans for the Primary.

Will switch to Syn sometime after 2K miles or so...whenever I get to it. I change the oil 2-3 times in the first 2K'ish miles so I hate to pay for synthetic. I'd rather clean oil than expensive oil...

Thanks again.
