last time I was so priveledged as to find myself in the Republic, I was treated to a ride through the drive-in liquor store (2-sixpacks of long nex and a pint of Southern Comfort) in a truely clapped out Willys pickumup with the Easy Rider Autograph Model rifle rack (which held a couple of lever-action winchesters, of course) and a hound in my lap . . .

the tapes of this particular adventure get a little fuzzy at this point, so I'll not delve further into the archives

Apart from a few details and the location there were times in my past that I could have been the driver on that trip. Oh the memories, where's the aspirin. :)

Well, things haven't changed much, I imagine. I can't help you with the Willys pickemup, but I can put you in an STS Seville with a 1911 under the seat! We still have armadillos, long nex, hounds (I assume it was of the canine variety!) and drive-thru liquor stores.

We also have a recently enacted "open container" law, more honored in the breach than in the observance, from what I can see!

Ah, progress...sigh

Thang/Mike . . . .as I wrote, due to the frailty of my memory, and, to be honest, taking into account the statue of limitations for some acts (regarding federal, local, and spousal statutes), further comments would be ill-advised.

and, yessir, the hounds was of the four-legged variety.

I was always a little amused by the whole rifle-rack thing . . . .the few times I attempted to deploy a long gun from inside a roofed vehical, I was re-educated about the impossibility of several items occupying the same spot at the same time . . . sometimes painfully . . . . . the 1911 sounds smarter

Bomber,
I could show you the proper way how I used to deploy a model-94 from a rifle rack while driving down a bumpy gravel/dirt logging road but since there were no witnesses and since I probably wasn't there either it may never have happened, but the can did go flying from the stump as the friend in the passenger seat who may or may not have been there also could maybe attest to. Sometimes it's good to do some things left handed. ;)

And I didn't scratch the paint, added to stay on topic. :)

I trust my firearms-wielding days are just about over, but if they weren't, I'd certainly take you up on your kind offer . . . .

I'll certainly take you up on it if someone sneaks into the Entropy Lab (a.k.a. my garage) and attempts to key the paint on anything contained therein

phew . . . . on topic, yes?

r-t & Bomber,
Did you know that removing your tach creates a nice drink holder for your beer.

reminds me, in principal, of a device I saw in a biker rag long ago that would allow one to smoke a, ehm, smokable while in motion on one's bike

I have two nice drink holders for my beer--five fingers on each one!

oh, and did you know that beer will clean hardened bug guts from your paint and bodywork?

Let me hasten to point out that hot, flat beer works best on bugs--the kind of beer you find in all those cans on the floor in the morning!

Waste not, want not!

don't sweat it, thing . . ..that's really Dyna using Blake's logon . . . he's just funin ya . . .

now, if I could only figure out a good way to ground the M2 in the garage so's it wouldn't attract all that airborne dust to the bodywork, which is covered with paint, which requires cleaning on a regular basis

flat beer works best on bugs--

Yet another reason to continue drinking beer !!!

Wait, does my Blast even have paint on the bodywork, ooohhhhh I don't think so !! Oh well, guess I'll just have to drink it all and not let it go flat whilst I'm cleaning the little Blast !!

I'm trying to narrow my choices of models for my upcoming "late summer" purchase (not an annual event). I like the X1 but I strongly dislike the giant black plastic things on either side. Are they removeable? What are they hiding? Are they any photos anywhere of what the X1 looks like without these?

An actually cleaning question.

I have a D&D slip on pipe that is starting to show rust signs after about 3 months.

What do you all recommend for cleaning the pipe and what can I do to stop future rusting.

Thank you for your help.

Another chin fairing/spoiler mounting question....

Does anyone know if the X1 chin spoiler mounting hardware comes as separate kit with a part number? I have the individual hardware numbers and have tried to order them through an HD dealer. The problem is that some of those bolts are sold in sets of five and ten and they won't break them up. I don't want to buy ten bolts if I only need two.

Have never heard of a kit, don't think it exists. But if ANYONE has a kit it will be Tat at American Sport Bike.
Give them a call.

Good idea, I figured they might have it too. No dice though, American Sport Bike said I'd have to talk to a dealer....just what I wanted to hear

That's a nice piece of work Rick!

Question for the masses.
Has anyone had problems with the large(thick) tank letters coming loose?
On my 2K M2 you can move all the letters (both sides). Like the adhesive is disolving.
In fact, the last L on the left side fell off somwhere.

BTW, anyone got a spare L laying around?

Thanks
Brad

a license plate that will work on
