Unfortunately when i got my 02 x-1 I didn't get a manual.I just started up my bike after a year (don't ask but she is alive)from shoulder tackling a civic at around 70.Amazingly it seems to only need a new head lamp as well as a few cosmetics for the moderate roadrashery (cracked airbox and a few ugly scratches). Also I need to open up the transmission casing for it's leaked all the fluid.

I located the leak and am in the process of surgery...But..The leak was coming from the lower part of the shifter are which broke off(located exactly on the or in the plastic pannel on the bottom) and its very loose inside.I had to use a vice grip on the top part that shifts so i can pop it into first and nuetral.(I know i shouldnt have but I drove it about 50 feet and listened to it.Fortunately it sounds OK and I gotta open her up to check for shavings)

I'm lookin for an online manual to assist me in my medical misadventure with miss fiona (thats her name) or some advice as to how to repair. If I take off the casing am I gonna end up screwing anything up?(cause i think it's just a minor operation..nothing to deep or challenging)

Sorry if this post sounds kinda incoherent but I don't know the technical terms and it's been a very long day for me.

PS please don't call the grammer police incase i made any literary infractions

There is a S1 manual in badweb that should cover the inside of the primary. The shifter on the outside of the primary will be different. Good luck it's not hard, there is someone here that will help.

Ouch! That must have been quite a pop.

You will have to take out that bolt, and remove the whole primary cover, and see if its cracked or warped.

Get a new primary gasket (the good new metal kind) and some new bolts before you start, hard to tell from the picture but it looks like at least three are toast.

Um anyone know of a good place to get a shifter kit with the gaskets and all?I called just about everywhere today and da boys at the harley stores told me that in order for them to get the parts that I need they would have to order 10pieces of everything.

The Buell website has the shifter kits listed with part numbers. Also take a look at the case on the other half for damage.

Any Buell dealer can order one at a time, no problem. Some will execute better then others. Good ones should have all that stuff in stock. One easy way to find a good one is to look at who is a sponsor here on badweb.

You probably want to get that primary off before you do a lot of driving and calling around, I'm guessing you may need a few more parts before the day is done. In particular, I'd be looking at the other end of that splined shaft that the shifter connects to. That is a repairable / replacable unit as well (without splitting the cases).

Generally it is unnecessary, I just put a 5 gallon bucket nearby and tuck the primary cover in there with the clutch cable housing still attached. It's out of the way enough.

But you need to inspect it to see if it is warped, so you might eventually have to pull it off.

That being said, I rebuilt the entire transmission on my M2 (cartridge tranny) and never removed it.

I had a more expierinced rider/engineer take a look at it.I just need the assembly and some type o caulk.

The rest is cosmetic.
