Ok, here is my question;

I have a 2005 city cross, I have found the head lights to be less then great on curves at night.

I have swapped the yellow and orange w/white strip in the connector behind the fly screen so that both the low and high beam will run at the same time.

The lamps are rated at 55watts each the bike puts out 34amps which equals about 408 watts.

1. Can I run both lamps at the same time and still keep all the systems running and the battery charged?

2. Are the 55 Watt Xenon bulbs ok to run or will they get too hot and melt something?

3. Does anyone know how much extra watts or amps I have available to run auxiliary lighting?

Gregg

Xenon's typically only consume about 35 watts when running (after a momentary spike at startup which of ???)

They burn cooler, not hotter - no worries there.

I'm forming the opinion that they are a good thing. I'm upgrading to one myself (just looking for a place to finally hide the ballast).

I'm not sure the OP was talking about HID lights. He might have been using something like "silverstars"

Maybe a little clarification?

55 Watt SilverStars I think will run just as hot as the stock Halogens, but will give off a better, whiter light.

There are also Halogen lights being advertised as "Xenon LooK". You're just paying extra for an exotic, blue tinted bulb - money better spent on a true HID lamp...
