I have an 04 xb12s that I bought from its first and only owner last year.

I came with the pro series exhaust on it and race ecm, installed by the dealership.

It just came to my attention that I dont have the rubber "snorkel" venturi thing in my intake hole in the frame.

I thought this was what people were taking out for an open airbox kit? My airbox does not have any holes it in though.

Hell for this much, I might cut some holes in my airbox now.

Does the little rubber thingy run better, should I not cut into, and just get a new one to replace this missing doohickey?

Most folks remove the snorkel, and I believe it is part of the process of installing the "Race kit".

Does the little rubber thingy run better, should I not cut into, and just get a new one to replace this missing doohickey?

Most believe the engine runs better without the rubber thingy "snorkel". As far as cutting into it or not, I'm guessing your talking about the air box cover, there are differing opinions. Some do it and like it, and others believe the low and mid range torque delivery is better without cutting holes in it.

How is your bike running? Are you happy with its present performance? If so,leave it alone and ride. And I wouldn't replace the "missing doohickey". If you want one, ask and I sure someone will send you one for the cost of shipping. There are probably hundreds of snorkels collecting dust in garages all over the world.

Thanks Fran_dog,

I did a little more research and come to find that I'm blind, the threads were right in front of me.

Looks like a couple slots in the air box, and a good seal around the snorkel-less area between the frame and airbox will do me just fine.
