I'm considering going to a 210 rear tire on my 04 XB12R. I already have a chain conversion but have been told a 210 or 240 will screw up the way my bike handles. Does anyone have any input on this.I don't want to spend the money widening the wheel if it ruins the way my bike handles.

Depends if you ride it like a sport bike or a cruiser. I may hurt sport bike handling. Worst thing is that you will have HUGE chicken strips. The wider tire pinched onto the narrow rim will cause the outer edges of the tire to go more near vertical, thus preventing that portion of the tire from ever contacting pavement.

Best tire size for handling is the 180/55.

Big fat tires are for poseurs and choppers that folks don't really ride.

They do look cool though. : ]

Depending on the sidewall size it will make your gearing a little taller as well.
