Donnie
I always saddle soap and rub mink oil in as soon as I get them then every time I wear the the first couple of times. I think it speeds up the break-in.

I have a can of spray on "Glove Conditioner" that I bought when my kids were breaking in new Baseball gloves. Anyone ever try something like this on their leathers? I just bought a new jacket and want to try to loosen it up a bit before riding season.

Talk to a local dry cleaner, one near me cleans leather and my jackets always come back nice and soft.

Check out Montana Pitch-Blend. They make leather care products made from mink oil, pine pitch, and bees wax.
Treating the leather with the mink oil helps to make it supple.

Yup, Montana Pitch Blend is the stuff. I ordered mine through Fox Creek Leather. You can find them on the web easily.

+1 on Lexol.

I do not know if it works well on leather gear, but it is by far the best leather conditioner I have ever used for auto seats/furniture.

when i was in the Marine Corps
to breaking our new boots
we would saturate them with water
lace them up and wear them for a half a day
the boots would actually mold to your feet
while walking and would become more comfortable than u can imagine
how u to use this on pants is another story ?????

Friends of mine in the Motor div. of police department all swear by Lexol. I use the stuff also and it has always worked great for me.

+1 on Montana pitch. Smells good. All natural stuff, and gives good moisture protection as well as conditioning.

I use Fiebing's Aussie Leather Conditioner. Lexol is good but too watery for my tastes. The Fiebings does a great job conditioning and also has bee's wax in it which adds an additional level of protectiveness for the leather while making it supple
