There is probably a thread already on the subject, but I woke up too early today and my search feature isn't awake yet. Question: What shocks are a direct swap with a 1995 S2 shock? Will a 2000 M2 post-replacement shock, standard height, work as a direct swap? Mine isn't leaking yet, but I'm looking down the road. I saw on another thread something about a K1400 number, is that printed/stickered on the shock someplace? Thanks. Feel free to post up any other tube frame shock data if you'd like to.   Bluzm2 Posted on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 - 03:11 pm:        Mike A recall 14.5" shock will not be a direct replacement for and S2 shock without changing the front shock mount. The stock S2 shock (both the WP and replacment) were about 15.5 - 16" eye to eye. If memory serves, the K1400 shock is the latest recall 14.5" version. If you have the newest replacement shock on you M2, you need the front mount also. I've done the replacment on both of our S2's. If you still have the long shock mount (it's straight and not banana shaped like the short shock mount is) I'd stick with that length if I got an aftermarket shock. I can only assume a larger shock would have more oil volume to work with and may have a greater resistance to fade. I keep both shock mounts in my garage so I can use whatever length shock I come across. I'm currently using a short Penske, but my options are open if I come across a good deal on another shock.   Tornado Posted on Friday, February 08, 2008 - 04:56 pm:        Thanks, that's what I was thinking.
