Another newbie dumb question. What size wrenches do you need to adjust the sag on the rear shock? The only thing that I have that is even close is a pipe wrench that barely fits the lock nut. Chews up the finish as well. I thought I read somewhere that there is a "Buell special tool" for adjusting the rear shock. Any idea where I might get one here in the Great White North? Thanks

Bop on over to you local home store and pick up one of these:

Notice the smooth jaws, no marring. It'll set you back about $25 or so. It will work on the lock nut and the can nut.

Brad, thanks for the info. I'll pick one up this week.

Newbie problem,
I now have a tool for adjusting the can on my 2000 S3T, but I can't seem to get the minimum distance (16.9") between the eyebolts as listed in the service manual. I have taken the can from full forward to full rearward and can't get anywhere near that measurement, I am barely at 15 + inches. Also, the rear of the bike barely settles at all when I sit on it. (180 lbs) Is there something I am missing? I am just a few more adjustments from getting back on the road so any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Never mind,

Once again the Knowledge Vault has provided the answer. I believe the measurements listed in the Service manual are for the pre - recall shock settings. The Service bulletin lists the new measurements as 15.2 - 15.5 inches well within the range I can achieve. Thanks to all who have contributed to this resource over the years.
