There I am, 14 degrees and looking like the Goodyear Blimp standing beside my bike. Hit starter and battery wouldn't push the piston over the top even once. Second attempt same. Drive to work in truck. Need to ride so followed advise from folks and bought new battery. Next day, today, 15 degrees, new battery wouldn't push the piston over the hump. Not one rev. Whats with that? I think border line starter power. Hard to accept this bike as a substantial touring bike the longer I have it. Maybe I got a weird one. Never experienced this kind of stuff before. This really is a 2008 modern machine I hope.

What weight engine oil are you using? And is it full synthetic?

My 05 9sx manual recommends a lighter weight oil (10w40?) for use in cold weather, and a synthetic will flow a lot better in extreme cold. Not sure about the Uly manual.

5 degrees this morning in Ohio, and both my Saturn and my Toyota made terrible groans and noises to try and turn the engine over. Brrrrr.....

I think Mobil 1 15w50 full synthetic would be easy to find and a good choice. I would reccomend against the Castrol 5w50 full synthetic based on highly anecdotal personal experience (my 9sx consumed it like a sailor on leave...)

Had 10/40 in it yesterday morning. Changed oil and put 20W50 Amsoil Full Synthetic back in for this mornings fiasco. That shouldn't be a problem I would't think. If it cranked and cranked slow I'd point at oil. When the starter won't even push it over the top for one revolution I think under engineering. I mean new battery, trickle charge and fresh clean full synthetic oil. Maybe a heating blanket over the seat. Just don't know anymore....and yes, I still like the little devil.
