Has anyone had any success mounting XB wheels on a M2? I think the gold wheels would look hot on my reactor yellow M2. I am guessing it would require the complete front fork and triple tree assembly to get the brake assembly to work. Maybe the xb will become the next model popular for chopper conversions making a swap financially feasible. Some people may be upset by all the Buells getting converted into choppers, but I see it as inevitable as long as a Buell does not hold it's resale value as well as a Harley. You have to admit that the trend has made used tuber parts readily available on the internet as an economical alternative to the prices at your local Harley dealer. I have not only purchased parts much cheaper on the internet, but have had the the parts delivered to my door in less time than it would have taken to get it special ordered at the dealership without the trip required to pick it up. I can waste my gas with a ride up Palomar and stop and spend some of the money I saved at the Indian Casinos. Perhaps I can turn the few dollars I save into the jackpot that will buy my next ride. Without swapping forks you will not have a way to mount your brake caliper. Yes it is possible to do a front fork swap, several people have done so. | ||

have seen it done on an X1,XB brake caliper was mounted using a plate,the fork lowers must have been machined to take the XB spindle.was at the streetfighters show at santa pod two years ago. | ||

Interesting. I've been looking at the conventional fork on my M2 and daydreaming about fabbing a mount for a ZTL caliper. I don't see any reason why it couldn't be done, except for the Rube Goldberg-like quality it would exude. Now I gotta try it... | ||

The top tube is fatter, headlight mount modification needed as well. Dj if you take on this project post some how to photos and results. XB9 triple tree & forks are on ebay.  | ||

This is presently what I am trying to accomplish. I already have the XB front end, wheels and brake system on. My problem is the rear wheel bearings. XB's have a 30mm axle while the tuber has a 25mm. The outside diameter on the XB bearing is 55 mm. The tubers is 52mm. I thought I was going to get 25mm x 55mm bearings till I found out there is no such thing. Atleast that I'm not aware of. So I am trying to think of a plan B, but so far have been unsuccessful  | ||

Akironic, you might check with a machine shop to fix a shim to fill the 3 mm gap or rework the the swingarm to fit a 30 mm axel. How did the fork installation go, any issues? The stock forks are pretty tight with the tank, do the XB forks increase the turning radius? Got photos? | ||

i have been thinking of doing some thing similar,whats the smallest rear pulley i can fit to an XB rear wheel ?? as i want to keep as close to the stock gearing as possible, | ||

Hal's Speed Shop has bearing spacers to fit the 30mm bearing to a 25mm axle. They're about $25 each. Swapping my Sportser front end for the XB killed my turning radius, so I ended up shaving down the steering stops on both the frame and the lower triple. The smallest stock pulley the make for an XB is the 65T as far as I know. |
