Traded in my 06 Uly for an 08. After only 1600 miles, I am on my 3rd upper clutch cable bracket and clutch cable (When the bracket breaks, the cable leans against the front header and melts!) Never had any problem with my 06, and put over 7K miles on her. Is anyone else experiencing any problems with the upper clutch cable bracket? I'm wondering if the increased handlebar turning radius on the 08 model necessitates more movement to the cable, and thus more pressure on an inadequate bracket?
So far, my dealer has honored the warranty and just replaced the brackets and cables. But I'm sensing that they're getting tired of doing this and they're starting to ask me unusual "riding style" questions...in other words, hinting that it's not a manufacturing defect, but a rider defect! I've asked them to contact Buell and inquire if there is bigger problem going on here with this bracket, but for some reason, the dealer is reluctant to reach out to Buell.
Can anyone offer any knowledge or comments? |

Yes, they break all the time (on 06s too):
You can replace it with the cable bracket off the firebolt, or I'm told the brake line bracket off an HD (not sure which HD.) |

Ulygirl : Just saw your post. The bracket (spring wire cable clip) was broken on my 08 Uly the day I picked it up. I went to parts and bought (Ordered)8 of them. So far four have broken. 5 months and 10,400 miles. I just don't have the strength to continually do the service thing. Easy and cheap to fix--------often |

That old original spring wire that held the clutch cable away from the header has been redesigned. It has a new part number and I have posted it here just this week along with the old one. New part is heavy flat iron with loops on both ends. But it's a solid part and will cure that problem forever for sure. I don't have time to find my previous post but part numbers are there for you. Found it::The spring wire that holds the clutch cable away from the header pipe on the XB12X has been changed to a heavy piece of flat iron with loops at each end to grasp the cable. The old part number was N0012.1AA. The new improved part number is N00.1AAA. This new revision part appears very substantial
