I made a set of saddlebag loops from 1/2" wide, 1/8" steel strap from the hardware store.



Here you can see the finished product without the bags.

Here is the view with the bags in place.



Total time for fab & installation was about an hour. I used a vise to bend the strap and a 1/4" drill bit to punch the mounting holes in the steel strap. Cost with the SS hardware was around 5 bucks.

Loops work great. I made a 400-mile trip at 80+, no problems. I also carried a Harley battery, no problems. No more saddlebag flopping or rubbing on the tire.

Here you can see the underside.



I used 2 stainless ~2" screws with lock nuts, 1/4-20 thread pitch, same as factory, just longer to catch the strap.

Here are the screws from up top.



They are the 2 in the rear, which hold down the nylon webbing. You can see the slotted heads in place of the factory torx.
