Hey there, I have an 05 XB12Scg. I would like to remove the passenger foot peg mounts but I see that there are nuts on the other side of the bolts that appear to hold down a bracket. This bracket seems like it might hold the battery? Is this nut on the back necessary? I don't want to have to put the bolts back in to hold down the bracket and have the bolt heads sticking out. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I don't think you need the bolts. The nuts seem to keep the bolts from backing out.

Take off the rear peg brackets and then put the nut and bolt back on.

The bolt is for the bracket. The nut is part of the battery hold down.

Don't worry about those nuts...the battery isn't going anywhere been running mine for a while w/out putting bolts back in....battery and bracket are doing just fine...the bolts on mine were SOOOO tight, I actually twisted one of them off, trying to back it out...Whack the crap out of the bolt head before you try to take them out...I had to use a 2 foot "cheater bar" on my 1/2 drive ratchet to get them out !
