Hello, I hope someone can help me. I have a 99 s3 that needs a couple of the service recalls applied.
I tried ordering the upgrade kits so that I could install them myself, but no dice. The parts people wont order them, and since the official records show that the upgrades were already performed, I'm not eligible for dealer service.
What the heck do I do now?

If you order the parts that where changed they should come with the upgraded components. What are you looking at doing?

Hi Joe
I want to put on the throttle cable clamp
and the tank vent upgrade.

My throttle cable jumped out of its track a couple of weeks ago which was scary. The tank has no venting at all (go figure) so it builds up pressure until the gas cap pops up!
Thanks for your help

Throttle cable recall is interesting. All my dealer did was replace my cables. I lock wire the cables at the carb. The vent is a large bulb device that will suck up tank space. I use an in line check valve in the vent line and take the extra fuel capacity. I will see if my parts book has the vent part number.

The are photos of a good way to handle the throttle cables in the archives.

>>>he tank has no venting at all.

If you tank has NO vent it has been modified. All Buells have vents. The recall just changed it to a 90o fitting.

Easy fixes, both.

hey, you're right, the vent was removed and replaced with a bolt. I want to get the upgraded valve and the right angle nub deal that is shown in the pictures but i don't have the non-recall part number. Actually, my 99 parts manual is about half useless. I try to order a part, the number is obsolete, they have to dig up some other p/n for me. I wish i had the xref sheet.

John
My parts book has the vent valve assembly on page 72. It is listed as part number 62175-99Y. Old number and does not show the check valve in the tank. But I feel it will be part of the assembly because the male thread of the check valve is what the 90 degree vent threads onto.
