I have a 99 x1. I want to upgrade the headlight. I like the single headlight look but I need more light. Or at least brighter. Any ideas?

a couple of ways to go.

1. a higher power H4 bulb. Not legal, but it works, please avoid blue, and keep the wattage down to 100 on high, & you should be good. I'm running a Luminetics 2500K yellow 130/135 and, so far getting away with it. It's distinctive ( my friends phrase, after I followed him for an hour or so ) and works well with my Reactor Yellow M2 IMHO.

2. HID replacement, usually you lose the high beam, ( I think there are rigs that use a second Halogen bulb for high ) more money, more work, you have to install a ballast box to run light. Please check other threads for details, this has been discussed here before. Things like switching to high when you park, or before you start, to reduce start cycles, which, on a HID, are more important that hours run, in our application.

3. additional aux. lights. Pencil beams, spots, fogs, x-ray lasers, the sky is the limit. Certain PIAA models are well though of. Search for pics & details in the Badweb.

You can find some info here.

I have an '04 XB12S. The previous owner wired both head lights to be on high beam all the time with no low beam. He got tired of, "Hey buddy, one of your headlights is burned out!" Can't blame him. Is there a way to run both lamps as low beams AND both as high beams?
Thanks!

You can install HIDs designed for dual filament bulbs on motorcycles.
They have a solenoid in them that changes position of the bulb when the high beam switch is flicked on.
Available on Ebay for a very reasonable amount.

There is no benefit to running a hi/low HID setup on a XB's.

The headlight housings are already designed for one low beam, one high beam. By moving the bulb (as most HID hi/low set do) you are completely ruining your headlight aim.
I have always recommended running HID on the low beam only, as it still allows you to use your halogen high beam as a flash to pass.

Corporatemonkey , The guy has posted that he has a 99 X1 with a single headlight and was asking about his options for lighting with it.

I agree with what you said about the XB lights though.

Sorry guys,
I'm new at this and thought I was starting a new thread, which I meant to do.
Didn't mean to muddy things up.
