is there anybody on the inside who can ask the right people the right questions as to the programing of the ecm for the xb models? looking to do alot of non-hwy use moding and need alot of info as to what coding effects what part. been using ecm spy alot and gunter and his crew have done wonders but i'm like johnny 5 from short circuit. "need more info." | ||

I reprogrammed my fuel map using data from a race ecm ( available from Gunter ). Some of the fuel programming is trial and error, just save your original map. You want to remember where you want to enrichen or lean out the mixture, with the knowledge that the ECM will try to keep the air/fuel mixture where it thinks it should be, depending on RPM, temperature, elevation, etc. I used the values from the race map, plugged them in to my old map. Some of the race ECM values were actually leaner than the existing values. When that happened, I kept the original values. My S3 has never run better, and I am very satisified with it now. No more pinging at high speeds, much better throttle response at lower speeds. No loss in mileage, still get over 50 MPG at highway speeds. Don't get the bike too lean, just experiment. yeah that's where i am at now. i got my bike tuned so it happy with the factory closed loop area and have power at the top end. i want to make my closed loop area smaller and make it a little leaner. as long as it doesn't cause too much heat, i'd like to run closer to 15.2. that is the ratio that is claimed to give the best fuel economy when cruising. but if i do that in the normal closed loop area it will richen up the whole curve and make me too rich everywhere else. |
