Im installing a set of 7 deg. down x-roads bars on my 2000 cyclone. The plate of the bars installs between the stock handlebar brackets and my bolts need to be about 1/4 inch longer to properly secure everything.
I contacted A.S.B. and as always, they were very helpful and pointed me in the right direction. I contacted the recommended distrib. and they couldnt help me either.

I know I could go to the hardware store and buy a substitute, but I dont feel right buying bike parts at a hardware store... Even if it is just 4 allen head bolts.

From the chart, I see that the stock bolt specs are:HANDLEBAR CAP 5/16 1 4 2-0324

Looking down the chart I see this:
DRIVE SUPPORT ARM CAP 5/16 1 1/4 2 2-0325

Of course, the quantities are different, so id have to order double, but will this be a solution to my little problem?

Thanks!

I think Buell buys these things at the manufacturers version of a hardware store, I don't think they thread their own bolts.

The part numbers listed should be the answer to your problem, but I don't have first hand experience on this particular set of bars.

I have Crossroads on my M2. I don't believe there is any difference between the bolts that came with the kit and the same stainless steel fasteners you can get at a hardware store (except maybe the manufacturer).

I get all kinds of fasteners for my bike from hardware stores, btw. Just make sure you never replace a graded bolt with something weaker.

Ace Hardware for me or Fastenal. Grade 8 or stainless and an antiseize compound or appropriate Locktite. Has worked for years. But I agree don't go to a lower hardness. Always the same or harder. Then you can look at colored (anodized) for cosmetic reasons. Not to mention hex vs. socket head vs. torx or any thing they have out there.

I'm sure most customizers buy at a local nut and bolt place. They have bins of them and the salesman (or woman)keeps them full. Not to mention having an engineer or the proper stress equipment needed.

In retrospect some parts are unique to a specific application but are made so they are not available, except thru the given manufacturer
