OK, I'm getting a new swing arm installed by the dealer. 08 Uly. Great! Happy! I'm very new to Buell. Whats this about special steps to torque the rear axle nut? I spoke with a Bad Web member and he suggested I go through the torque procedure after receiving my Buell back from the dealer. I would think that a dealer tech should be trusted to be aware of any special procedure and be expected to perform the torque by the book. I'd like to just get it back and start rideing it. Trust or don't trust? (PS: 08 service manuals not available) I'm checking through the archives but haven't hit upon the procedure yet.. | ||

Trust would depend on the dealer. You never know. The torquing procedure is easy if you have a big enough torque wrench. It's clearly described in the service manual. I think what is probably even more important then the torquing procedure is to make sure the axle has a good coat of anti-seize. I think that is the root of most peoples axle problems. That, and "Oh, there are pinch bolts down there?" issues. |
