My Uly will not start. I do not hear that distinctive whirrr of the fuel pump. Checked fuse... looks OK. 527 miles on bike, had rode the bike for about ten minutes prior and stopped for about 5 minutes and would not start. Open for suggestions... thx JB

I have seen guys go through all kinds of troubleshooting only to find the kill switch was off.

At Homecoming a guy's XB was just dead after riding up to R.A. He tried all kinds of things, swapped batteries and nothing worked until he unplugged his ECM. Then it worked fine. You would think that disconnecting the battery would have done it.

Contacted Tilly's HD, Statesville, NC. They will be picking up bike on Thursday. I have complete confidence in Toby and Paul to correct the problem. I also contacted Buell Tech up in Wisc., and they too seem concerned and told me they would be contacting Tilly's also. They said they will be "watching over Tilly's shoulder" as they need and want to be informed of any glitches, whether in parts, or engineering. They even said they would want Tilly's to take photos if necessary. Buell said the 08's started production late July 07, so they want to know about any problems. They also said (you/me) should contact Buell tech so they can follow-up on any issues as many times the dealer will fix a problem but does not notify Buell, so if it is a design, part or engineering glitch, they do not "hear" about it. Both Buell tech and Tilly's concern is reassuring... even though I am disappointed with a problem after 525 miles. Hopefully it is something simple...

Latest update... Received a call from Tilly's this afternoon about picking up the bike today (Wed) instead of tomorrow (Thur)and as we were speaking on the phone, their delivery/pick-up guy was coming down the driveway. So far so good and with fingers crossed hoping that it is something simple and quickly repaired. Along with both Tilly's and Buell techs initial concern, Tilly's quick response is diminishing that anxiety I have felt having a new bike breakdown at 525 miles.
Stay tuned...

Bike picked up yesterday after 1pm by Tilly's HD-Buell Statesville, NC. Today (Thur) received phonecall from Tilly's early AM stating my Ulysses was ready to go. Problem was a "corroded" terminal connector at the fuel pump. Thankful for both Tilly's and Buell techs response. Problem was simple and hopefully it does not happen again. Big thumbs up to Tilly's service and Paul Morrow and Allen Bell at Buell CS. Hard to figure how a brand new bike manufactured Aug 07 already has a corroded connector. Bike has never been wet or even washed yet. Hopefully this "bug" doesn't happen to any of you all. JB

Jb,
That's why I always grease my connectors with a No Ox grease the first time I open them up. I can't recall ever having a problem with one after doing so.
That is a surprise that a new bike would have that. Mine is eight years old with 62,000mi. and a lot of rain since I ride it to work every day that I can plus all the travelling. My connectors looked pretty good after all that and many connectors hadn't been touched yet.
