allright here it goes. First my bike has never givin me any problems. Now I was on my way home this a.m. and went to pass a car and my bike sputtered and jerked and actually stalled on me. Now it started back up after coasting off the road. When it did start it was smokin black smoke and when i rode it you had to keep it between 3 and 3.5 k or it was spit and sputter. Also, you couldn't get on it too much cause it was do the same thing. Now i got home checked the plugs and wires and they look good actually. (5,000 miles better be good) anyways so now its still doing it....what does it sound like to you guys? bad gas maybe if so what do i do for it? I would prefer not draining the tank cause that seams like a big chore. thanks for the help. |

What kind of bike? Did you just fill up? Draining the tank is not hard. Just shut off the petcock, unhook the hose and reattach a longer piece, stick it in a 5 gal. can, open the petcock and have a beverage of your choice. |

no petcock. its a 2006 city-x so little harder then expected. I did just get gas like 80 miles before it started acting up. So I don't know. |

Check for error codes. There are many posts here in the BadWeB that go over the procedure to do this in case you need help. A search will find them. The O2, head temp and air temp sensors all directly affect the air/fuel mixture ratio. If any of their circuits become momentarily disrupted, either from a wiring issue or bad sensor, the ECM will try to compensate and poor driveability results. But the best situation is if the problem persists so that a Buell tech can diagnose the symptoms. Intermittant problems, however, can become character building situations. |
