Has anyone used this? Here is a link: http://www.roguechopper.com/products.html

It's a little pricey, but if it does as advertised, I'll hunker down the cash. Anyone use it? Comments on fit/finish? Use of operation?

I have a Silly question, How do you change oil on a XB, stock? Can you remove the oil return line from the swing arm, easily? Where does it drain?

After watching video's & reading pdf's, I don't see how one of these kits would fit on your bike. Neat idea though.

I also want to know how in the video, no oil pours out when they unscrew the filter???? I'm still trying to figure out a method that doesn't make a mess. ( aluminium foil, plastic milk jugs.... aaaarrgh! I just suck at doing that without a spill )

On a tuber there is an oil drain line, after draining oil, & changing filter, if you pour ( about ) 2 quarts of oil into tank, you can start engine briefly to squirt out nearly the last of the dirty oil. Then you plug/replace the drain hose, & top oil off. I suppose the puck they sell would keep dirt out of the new filter, but for me that would just be 2 freaking oil spills as I used the system.

IMHO in near ignorance.

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure how the Sportster/Buell kit works, hence the reason for me posting here. I understand the theory behind the Evo engine kit on their site, but they don't have any good pictures and info on the Sportster setup.

And to answer your question about the mess, I guess I don't really have an answer except that I too make a mess. A cut up milk jug works, and so does a funnel. Either way, it is a bit of a PITA if you don't like an oily muffler

I've heard about that trick on the tubers, but I've never tried it on the XB. If it works the same, then great...means I spend less money.

Poke a hole in the oil filter with a small screwdriver and let it drain before you unscrew it.

Eh, I'll stick with the funnel system. I've only had to stick a screwdriver through one oil filter in my life so far and that was enough of a mess!

With my Mazda RX-7 you really need to put a hole in the top of the filter and then let it drain for a bit of time. It is a real mess if you don't and only half a mess if you do. It mostly depends on the position of the filter. Always fun to do with hot oil as well<grin>.

The thing I don't like about it is that once the hole is in the filter then you can't sit the filter down on the filter top to prevent the oil from leaking out more. It seems to always roll or something to the point where the oil leaks out a little.

i use a cut up 2 liter soda bottle to catch
the oil when changing my oil filter. No mess at all.
First cut the bottom inch or so off of the bottle using a knife. Second, cut a u-shaped section out of the bottle to make a nice open top catch tray.

To use it, loosen the oil filter slightly, shove the bottle in and around the filter, remove the filter while holding the bottle in place. Once the oil filter is out, the bottle should stay in place, and you can then go away for a half hour and let all the residual oil seep out into the bottle.
