Has anyone ever noticed that after the 1000 mile service that the bikes lose some top end performance? I am determining this by the indicated speed on the speedo that comes with the bike, and cannot understand why top end is dismal in comparison to the way it was before the first service. I am on my second Buell, so I don't think that it is a figment of my imagination. Any ideas? |

Can you be more specific in your description? Looks like the 1000 mile service was not done correctly. Funny thing is... the only thing you can screw up is the TPS reset, I think. Ignition timing maybe but I don't think that is part of the 1K service. Plugs fouling? My XB12 has done nothing but get stronger since I purchased it. |

Well, it used to be a stump puller, and now it seems to be lacking. The thing is, that resetting the tps should not really affect the top end, from what I can gather. Used to be able to hit top speeds of about 30 MPH in excess of what it will do now, and it seems to be slower in general. Pickup, and performance are bad. Forget about getting the front wheel off the ground, it doesn't happen. Just doesn't run like I think it should, and it happened after the 1000 mile service. I don't know why. |

TPS is a foundational setting that effects all other operations of the fueling system. If TPS is off, it will most likely run like crap throughout the range. This is applicable to 07 and earlier fuel injected models. Hopefully others will chime in if I am wrong. Anybody? |

Check the primary chain tension. |

My guess is that an unqualified or unskilled tech did the service and got something out of spec, most likely the TPS calibration. I'd take it back and have them re-check all the things they touched. |
