I bought a used factory kit to add the dash and tach that comes stock on the 2000's to my '99 Cyclone. Since the wires to the gauges that I bought have been cut what kind of spade and plug am I going to need to hook this up? Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere-I did look around but did not see any info. Thanks TT | ||

You can probably get the contacts you from a H-D shop, they are also used on Harleys. But you'll need to tell them what kind of connector they are for. I think the info in the printed install directions will tell a Harley dealer everything they need to know to sell you the contacts you need. They may even be able to put the contacts back on the ends of the wires that were cut off. If the wires are not long enough you may have to both extend their lengths and add the contacts to the ends of the extensions. You might ask the guy you bought those from if he would mind removing the contacts you need from the old install and then you could splice those back on. Jack | ||

OK how about more basic, what guage is the PINK wire? 16 or 14 ? Or ? Where can I get one of those tools to take the AMP socket out of the black connector? Radio Shack? Dealer only? | ||

I'd guess that wire at 16 gauge, a service manual will tell you if you have one. The crimp on pins and sockets will fit a range of sizes like 16-22 or something. In the H-D service manuals (I have a Dyna FXD service manual) that tool is is called the "pick tool (Snap-On TT600-3). But a flat bladed jeweler's screwdriver will work for that. You basically want to reach in with the tip and gently lift a small plastic locking tang a short distance. Study the image and look at the plug, its easy enough to figure it out:  here's the note on putting them back, confusing as hell to read but you have to get them in right (study that a little before you take them apart, it will help)  The H-D manuals have excellent info in them on doing the electrical connectors (much better than the Buell manual I had for my M2) and for identifying the various connectors and parts. You can probably get the crimp on sockets and pins from a H-D dealer if you need some. Jack | ||

M2 1999 Tachometer problem. I recently purchased a used tachometer, I don't know what model it came off it has 3 male plugs on the back (excluding the light)it doesn't have a fuel warning light and is quite long as in deep. Does anyone know how to wire it to my bike? thanks. |
