Here we go. Called Buell Tech today on the surging problem. I'm renewing the issue. He said he'd get back to me tomorrow. I rode a new 08 Uly this morning and it was perfect. Night and day difference between mine and it. It started and smoothed out almost immediately. Mine is huge warm up and rough running. It engages clutch smoothly and eases up to speed. Mine is jerky when clutch is let out and goes immediately into surge and in comparison to the new 08, mine runs dam'n rough everywhere up to 55 or 60 mph. Any gear any speed under 55mph is surge. (runs very rough). Hence the call to Buell. Heres the topper. New untitled 08 Uly - 20 minutes into the test ride I noticed check engine light on. Then tach and speedo quit, then major surge, then elstoppo. Battery totally dead. Then call the dealer truck. Man! Two 08 Buells and two that don't run right. Not good odds. Anyway; I'll see what Buell has to say tomorrow. But I decided to take it to dealer and I don't want to see it or talk about it till its fixed. Period. I don't have time anymore. But the thing handles!!!!!!!!!!5670 miles on it for what its worth

This road cuts off the lower end of Cherohala Skyway and rejoins it three miles up. Pleasant interlude. Uly is running fine since outside temp is around 45 to 50 degrees. I can't find a surge or any problem with running now. No sense bothering a tech with it. They'll never feel it. I can't now. Have to wait till its hot again. Fuel delivery? I think so.
But having fun now.

Back Road Uly

Gary:

How are you liking that new windshield? Do you have a picture from the front of the bike?

I know this is accessory comment but don't want you to miss it. The shield is great! Its 14" and can get 17". Attaches with the six existing screws on front of headlight bucket. Solid, doesn't vibrate and great protection. I'd buy another one. I'll stick a better picture on here when I'm home on my computer. I'll put it in accessories

surging problems in the learning range off the ecm ( low throttle, 2-3 k rpm )
make me always look for the header bolts, espacialy the rear..( O2 sensor )

not saying this is the problem with the 08 models, but just got a 06 with only 1000 Miles on here and the headerbolts where loose ( and one already missing )

Bud--thanks for the offering. I haven't touched anything on this bike cause of the warranty and I don't have a great garage. And since cold weather, its been running pretty fine. But just for the record; I suggested to the Harley tech that possibly the O2 sensor or even the engine temp sensor might be acting eradic. He replied that the bike would surge and heave (dramatically)if either of those were faulty. So I put both those parts out of my mind. They are cheap parts and I'd be glad to screw them on. I've seen BMW's with bad O2 sensors run rough and not jerk and buck. I just don't know Buells and trust the tech. Was hoping warranty would handle it but maybe I better just buy the two parts and eliminate them from the equasion. Got 6800 miles on it now so may as well do the plugs too. That will be three easy things to eliminate. Thanks for the suggestions.
