I have a 2000 X1 and it wheelies in 1st gear like its nothing but I don't know how to do it in other gears. Any advice??

Not. If the motorcycle is running good/correctly it'll wheelie in 2nd gear. Like Mike says above,,,sit it up, get your revs up, "unweight" the front end, whack and pull. It'll come right up with no problems.

My bike runs perfect, just had it tuned and dyno (110 torque 130 HP). I will give it a try again tonight, I'll sit up and rev. I wasn't sure how to do it, I'm fairly new and in 1st I don't have to do anything but sit and twist the throttle and she comes right up. Thanks for all the advice

I can power the front end up in 2nd without the clutch on my M2, but it takes perfect timing, perfect body position and english, and you have to hit the throttle precisely in the right range... and the there has to be very little gas in the tank. If you can find a little rise in the road, it's makes it a lot easier to get the front end up in 2nd.

It's simpler to just clutch them up.

M2, yep, true. I don't have anywhere near 130HP either : )

110/130? Is that a typo? You should be able to stand it up like crazy putting down them numbers.

1. cover the rear brake with your foot to bring the front down if it goes too far & starts to loop.

2. be prepared to buy bodywork & tail light lens's.

3. take off from stop easy, rev to 5k+ and shift smoothly & rapidly to 2nd. Front should rise. Or, rev to 6k, speed shift to 2nd, stab rear brake to save tail light.

4. if rpm is 3500 or better at steady state cruise, no matter what gear, fan clutch while whacking throttle & hang on. ( fan clutch means, to me, to pull in clutch & release rapidly, to allow rpm's to rise & impose sudden torque load to drivetrain )

130 ponies on a X1 you should be able to loft the front end in 4th by fanning clutch. You can also loop so fast you would not believe it. Hence #1 & 2 above. See youtube for a Buell looping at dragstrip.

130hp is what they told me. Hit the throttle and if your sitting upright really jerks you back and hang on tight. It some has had head work done on it. I got it to go up in second last night with sitting back and low gas in the tank and even got the front wheel a few inches up in 4th but still feeling that one out. Need to work on popin the clutch at right rpm ranges and get more familiar with my bike so I don't have to buy body work, that would really suck, especially since I have custom paint done.

110/130 is this at the crank? I have the full Pro series kit; and mine barely pulls the front off . I'm also at 6000' and on a hot day its like 8000'. Calculating true ponies thats minus 2HP per 1000 feet or 12HP down on power. : (

I had a bunch of head work done on it. upgraded cams (shakes my bike apart), port and polished, largest valves that the heads would fit. So the power is there but my knowledge on how to wheelie it isn't.

I think with that much power you could whack the throttle open and it should lift the front tire. Have you tried this?

If for whatever reason you don't want to use the clutch (the easiest way)
Get it in the meat of the revs bounce the front n wack it open it will come up that way too but MUCH less controllable.

The front does lift up (fully extends the forks) when I whack the throttle in 2nd but wheel doesn't come off the ground unless I bounce and lift. Did it last night then it puked oil all over me. I'm starting to get better at using the clutch but still need practice. I have it in the dealer today checking it over cause it seems like it is running really rich. Been acting slow the last few days and smells. The head work was handles thru my local HD dealer as far as I know. It was done by the previous owner who is a buell tech at HD.

Whats a good RPM range for popin the clutch and if I hit the rear brake does it come down?? I haven't got all the way up yet, still alittle nervous, not comfortable with it yet.

My hp/torque is not at the wheel power unfornately. I called the guy I bought it from to double check the numbers cause they do seem high compared to other dynos I've seen on here. But he swears by those numbers so whatever!! So I am going to have my own dyno done to get the my own actual numbers.. I just had all the top end gaskets replaced and I got to see the actual head work was done and my mechanics are in love with my motor. They own buells and after test riding mine said it wasted theres so we'll see what the new dyno number are and I'll post them on here.

I've only owned this bike for 2 months now and never going back to a honda!!
