Alright, gave it a go. Had a scratch in my 2002 x1 tail section and sanded it down with 800 grit sandpaper. The grooves look great. Now I am looking for help again. The tail section was originally coated with clear frost powder coating.

Is there any way I can "patch" the exposed aluminum with regular clear coat, or any advice on how to get it to blend short of removing the tail section and sending it in for re powder coating?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I used a clear spray paint and a gentle sanding in the damaged area repeat as needed.

btw prep for powder coat will likely be thorough blasting with sand or soda, to white, re polish outer area and hope that the casting does not out gas (bubble)
