Hello all. i read some posts about the H4 (dual filament) bulbs in the XB's
I have an '03 Lightning XB9S
and i want both headlights on for low beam and high beam.
but after getting ahold of an H4 (dual filament) i found it was way too big to fit. anyone know of a bulb that would fit?

also if anyone has done such a thing
(which im sure they have, seeing how everyone on here upgrades EVERYTHING!! :-)

were there any down falls, or issues?
I have examined the headlamp housing and i can not see a single difference from side to side (low and high)

i found a link where someone had installed the H4's and the harness but no more info as how they did it. any help is greatly appreciated !!!!!
P.S. ive searched for hours on this topic.

okay, after another examination, i did find the housings are a little different, one side is smoother than the other.

but i still think i'd like them both one

take a small side grinder, trim an H4 to fit, fab up a jumper lead to run the low beam filament to the running light lead. should'nt be too bad of a project.

what im planning on doing if possible is running both low beams at same time, as well as both high beams at same time, when needed. i guess i did not think about triming the H4. but would there be any problems with the depth of the H4 over the H7 in the housing??????
Im afraid the H4 (since its longer) would not allow proper light to reflect out on the streets.

any one have experience with this?

There is a simple way to run both lights at the same time. I found it on buelletin.com
Low as normal, both on when high switch on.
Just pull out and switch yellow with orange wire. Leave black and white alone. No cutting or splicing.

So since I accidentally melted my headlight housing lens looks like my project can begin.
Have new housing on the way (thanks Steve!). So I will have 2 housings. plan on switching both High beam reflectors into one housing. bought some H4 bulbs and electrical sockets to fit. So i'll trim up the bulb ends to fit and wire it up so I will have 2 low beams and 2 high beams.
I hope it looks good. if it works, I will be installing an HID kit after the holidays.

I'll post when done. might take a while :-)
