I have seen several tuber wheels go the way of the trash can due to a bearing failure, mostly the rear. I have come up w/ a way to fix the worn wheel and at the same time allow for easy bearing replacement in the future. Now if you are one who has been thru this and still have your wheel, front or rear, just taking up space this is what I want you to do.......send me your wheel or wheels and I will test my theory on your ginny pig wheel, I know sounds scarey huh, well I dont have any BAD wheels here so I need a doner. Think of it as HUGE donation to the buell family and another way to keep the buell wheels alive. Now I only need a few @ 1st, I would like one front and a back to start and once I have it all dialed in I will fix all others for a small fee, he/she who gets me them 1st gets his/hers fixxed for free.

Sounds interesting. Just curious about your process. Can you describe:
1) the severity of wheel damage that you can repair (rim dents, roached bearings, etc.),
2) what, in general, does your process involve (bore for a press fit sleeve, build-up plasma arc silicon carbide & bore, bore for bigger bearings, JB Weld - no - just kidding : ), etc.),
3) what type of wheels can you repair (polished PMs, Castalloy plain or powder coated, etc.) & would there be damage to the finish,
4) what type of bearings do you plan to use (Buell's or industrial supply generic, etc.)?

Have you already repaired some wheels and, if so, how's the longevity? If you've got some before and after pix, it'd be cool to see them.

Free is good. "For a fee" requires sponsorship. It's a policy that we must uphold equally for all. Thanks for understanding.

What I am trying to do is use OEM bearings for reliability and the process will include machining. I cant fix dents and such and I have no pics as of yet due to this is just theory until I can get a bad wheel. I'm sure it will work.

Some have had variable success with knurling the pockets, some have tried shims or inserts or sleeves, others have bored out the pockets and gone to larger o.d. bearings. Searching in the knowledge vault "should" get you to those postings.

Working with Blake on a sponsorship opens up a world of possibilities, same as sub-contracting through someone like Al at American Sport Bike.

The applicable LocTite, one of the green variety, has also proved helpful.
