Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster here. I purchased a brand new XB12Ss about 3 weeks ago and have been loving every minute of it, but have developed a problem with the exhaust...I think. The bike has about 700 miles on it, and I have been treating it pretty easy, following the break in recommendations. A few days ago the bike started sounding a little funny when running at roughly 3000 rpm. There was no noticeable change in performance, but it sounds like the valve in the muffler is opening and closing, changing the tone of the exhaust and making it louder, then quieter, then louder, then quieter...and so on. It will do this from about 2800 to 3300 rpm, regardless of speed. The check engine light also comes on, but will turn off once I get out of that RPM range. I have searched and searched, but I can't seem to find any other documentation of this problem, and my local service guy said he's booked until the end of the month...so I was hoping you guys had some answers for me. If not, I guess I will be bikeless for a few weeks. Thanks |
