1. I am looking for a more comfortable for an XB9R. Is the Buell custom seat worth it? 2. I am also looking for an after market windscreen. The stock one just hits me below the helmet making highway speeds really loud. Any good alternatives? Thank you, Van |

As for seat- no response. I have a 12r and the seat is fine for me. As for aftermarket windscreen the "double bubble" seems to be the windscreen choice. I just ordered one for my GSXR - if it is good for that bike, will put one on my 12r |

The seat meh its a LITTLE more comfy I'm selling mine (wanna buy it?)just because it raises the seat height about an inch or so n makes it just a bit too high for flat feet at stops Double bubbles look cool but melt gauges (Message edited by buelltroll on June 24, 2007) (Message edited by buelltroll on June 24, 2007) |

I recently made a bunch of changes to my Firebolt XB12R to make it more comfortable. Keep in minf that my changes are not huge, dramatic changes to the bike. So my Firebolt isn't suddenly a VFR! However, it's close! Check it out: Here is a good picture of my Firebolt with the Zero Gravity ST screen in dark smoke. Avoid the Double Bubble because under certain lighting conditions, it is known to divert sunlight into a concentrated beam that melts the plastic instrument panel. The ST screen diverted a great deal of wind over my helmet without increasing noise or introducing buffeting. http://www.geocities.com/rogue_biker/Firebolt/Bolt _Henshaw.jpg To complement the higher screen, I put on Helibars to raise the riding position. The new Helibar triple clamp raises the bars 1" and moves it back 1.5". It makes a noticeable difference. Now it is much closer to a VFR and probably similar to an '07 CBR600RR. http://www.geocities.com/rogue_biker/Firebolt/New_ Tripleclamps.jpg Another addition I did was to put the Buell Rider footpegs. These footpegs lower the pegs about an inch. Again very noticeable increase in comfort without much sacrifice in ground clearance. http://www.geocities.com/rogue_biker/Firebolt/New_ Pegs.jpg The overall result is my '06 XB12R is much more comfortable even in city traffic. Yet it is still sufficiently sporty for aggressive twisty road riding. Out on the highway the bike is a gem! Very good wind protection in the upper body, and doesn't fold me up like a pretzel. I really, really like it! |
