Bad tiki. Don't go there. Under hard downshifts, the chain just squashes that spring and the top side goes way slack. There are failure modes to boot.

It's too bad that southern oregon Hot bikes has never made their hydraulic version of something similar available. Something that went into hydraulic lock upon downshift would be a workable solution.
