Lower rider pegs are possible, there's footpeg mount available that drops the pegs an inch or so. |

Jayvee, Somehow your post got truncated. It didn't include WHERE that footpeg mount is available. I'm sure you must have included it. |

Some basic information is required in order to answer your question. What model of "XB12" do you have, a Firebolt or Lightning? The Lightning pegs are about an inch lower and will bolt up to any Firebolt. Other than that I'm not aware of any XB peg lowering alternatives. |

I was looking for an 06 Ullysess, not lightning or firebolt |

Then the solution is simple. Take a Firebolt for a ride, and you'll never see a need for lower pegs on your Uly ever again. |

There is not really anywhere to mount a set of forward mounted highway pegs on any of the Buells. I'm a "senior rider" and would start suffering in the legs and hip joints after an hour or so on an M2. Changing my leg position for a while would relieve that, on the M2 the only way I found was to fold the passenger pegs down, swing my feet back, and rest the tops of my feet on those for a while. It was actually a pretty relaxing position for sustained higher cruising speeds. The long term solution for me was to set the M2 free and get a Dyna FXD with standard controls and also a set of highway pegs (not forward controls, just foot rests). I can ride for hours with an occasional shift of foot position and it never gets tiring. So another possible solution is to own another motorcycle too. :> Jack |

It looks like you can use a Uly foot peg bracket on a lightning. This would make a nice extension to the Lightning. any thoughts on this??? |

I just finished an 860 mi trip (2 days - actually one evening and the next day). I found the same discomfort after 75 - 80 mi. I used the 2 up pegs for a change, but wished for some sort of forward stretch. My solution was to stop and walk around for a few. With a XB12X, the lost time from stopping is made up in the fantastic torque and gear ratios (ie. I feel the need for speed). I'm going to fabricate something for the front leg stretch that can fold out from the frame lines using servos and rack and pinion. |

Martin I like the stops, it seems on the longer legs of a run I lose some mental alertness, dehydrate and not as sharp physically as I am after a rest. But it sound like you want distance so comfort is an important help towards that goal. Joe |

I like how jackbequick sits with his instep resting on the passenger pegs. but there are a couple of drawbacks 1.)it does not work when you have a passenger. 2.)I find it kinda hurts your feet from the vibration 3.)prolonged riding like this makes my wrist hurt from supporting my upper body Solution: I end up just laying down on my belly, my thighs over the passenger seat and chest on the tank(air box) it makes for a quiet ride too b/c your directly under the wind screen I am wanting to put the 1" lower pegs on the rear also, has any one tried that? will they fit? I think it will make my passenger's and my own ride a little more tolerable on the longer trips. If I feel the need to have my feet forward, I position my body where instead of having my body lean forward I lean back. I move my bottom as far forward as possible. This makes my legs spread and I rest them on the sides of the air box letting them dangle in front of the pegs. My heel is just touching the pegs but it helps b/c your knees are not bent and its almost like your standing. |

I went out and looked at my XB9R, and noticed the rear pegs were boled to the frame in a semivertical position. Lowering these wouldn't be a problem. Get a set of spacers made from solid stock cut to length of the drop you like maybe 1.5"-2" max. and drill out the center so it seems like you have some really thick chunks of tubing. and some longer bolts, duh! I got the idea from the transfercase drop bracket on my `92 Jeep XJ. |
