Just looking for suggestions for lightweight riding pants with ce protection in the knees and hips. Looking for something that I can just throw on for around town and commuting to work as well as longer rides in the spring and summer.

Thanks!!

I commute and I wear perforated leathers (Joe Rocket) to and from work as well as in the canyons. A little too much for around town. Of course, I have to bring a change of clothes for work. If you want protection under you jeans or whatever, try out the Bohn under armor for the legs. Good protection and you can wear you loose jeans over them. They have a set that are made for warmer weather.

I bought a pair before I got the peforated leathers and now my wife wears them when we got out and she rides on the back.

Google Bohn motorcycle armor for more details and other gear.

Hope this helps

Giali and Cortech make jeans with protection. There are others out there too, but they have no padding just Kevlar.

Olympia has the mesh pant with protection. Also have a silver color available. Knees only CE protection, padding at hips:

Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking maybe some kevlar pants over the Bohn armor but I do like the Olympia mesh too. Decisions, Decisions!

How much do you want to spend? Aerostich Rider Wearhouse has the normal duty Darien pants that are cut like jeans made with 500 denier cordura Gore Tex or a Darienlight version out of 160 denier. They're waterproof and have padded hard-shell knee pads. You can either wear them alone or as overpants.

Bought first gear pants from newenough about two weeks ago, after a week of use I am very happy with them.

Look for the ones with the metal mylar looking waterproof / winter liner. I have that liner for my jacket and it's amazing stuff.

I really like the Joe Rocket Ballistic Pants. I actually have a practically brand new pair for sale, since I ended up with 2 due to a birthday. Size Medium - $90 OBO

My wife just bought me an early Father's day present - a pair of Buell Adventure pants with Switchback cooling panels. They are a tad tight just above the knee but tolerable. I have not had riding pants before and I was not sure if they should be loose enough to wear jeans underneath. Seems that would not work with these.

The CE armor in the knees is pretty thick and seems like it might be a bit bothersome if walking around off the bike. I like the armor on the hips. There is no shin armor but I wear 12" boots so the boots help some there as they come up just shy of the knee armor. They seem like they would be a little warm for the summer but I have not tried them on the bike yet.

Anyone else have some actual experience with these pants? Can they be spray water-proofed effectively? Are they comfortable for a long ride? Do the switchback panel provide any effective cooling? Ever try to wash them etc.

A little review would be great.

I bought some Sliders seconds for about $50. I don't like them. Too baggy. I don't think they will protect the knees very well, since the pant legs will probably get rolled up above them, in the event of an upset.

Worn once, washed once... W38 L32. For sale to highest bidder.

I'm looking to buy a pair of lightweight, no armor, pants just for riding back and forth to work. Something that I can pull over my Dress Pants to protect them from the bugs, road crap, etc. It's a P.I.T.A. having to wear one pair of pants to work and then changing once I get there. Any suggestions / recommendations? Thanks.

I have a pair of almost new FirstGear Mesh pants with armor in the knees that I can sell for $50 plus shipping.

They are comfortable and look like they would give good protection but I just don't wear them often enough to keep them.

I almost always wear my Aerostich suit and the pants just hang in the closet unless it is too warm to wear the suit.

Size is 40" waist "tall".

Thanks for the offer Dave. The waist is 34 and I'm working like hell trying to keep it there too. (Sit-ups suck!) I will take a look at the FirstGear stuff though.

Thanks,
