What is the difference between Garmin's City Select North America V7 (that came with my Quest) and Garmin City Navigator V8?

The difference between City Select and City Navigator is not much, they do basically the same thing. I remember reading a thread on gpspassion.com or advrider.com that described the details. . New units are delivered now with City Navigator NT only. V7 vs V8 is mainly an updated map set. If you bought your Quest with V7 within the last year or so you can get a free upgrade to V8. See garmin.com. V9 is coming out pretty soon.

Thanks Little... thats what I was wondering.

And it's good news... my V7 I have now is too old for the free upgrade. I was looking for updated software, and I won an auction for V8 software on Ebay.

It was only $89, and it included a used Quest (that had only been run over once : ) ). I'm thinking I can get it working again... time will tell.

For the new software, and the charger (which has the connector that I can't find anywhere for under $39), and a possibly salvageable parts unit... I couldn't pass it up.
