My CityX has done 15,000 miles and is now on its 3d set of front wheel bearings, 2nd set of rear wheel bearings, 2nd pulley tensioner, and 3d front disc. Is this okay?

Not by any stretch of the imagination.

Did the bearing spacer get replaced with the bearings on any of those swaps? And have the axles always been torqued to spec? No, it is not OK, something is very wrong.

Great point Al. I bet you nailed the issue; bad/short (due to over-torqued/over-loaded) bearing spacers.

I'd go to square one. . . new bearings, new spacer, proper torque.

Something is not right.

A tip - take a copy of the torque settings and procedure with you when you go to have your tyres changed/flats repaired.

Had my rear tyre replaced and when I went to take the wheel off to put another tyre on I had to check the manual to see if the rear axle was a left hand thread!

The shop who put it on the first time must have a 1000Nm torque wrench!

Ditto the torque issue. I recently removed the front and rear wheels and there is no way they were torque to value. I suspect the dealer used an air wrench.

Bone head service guys.... they just don't give a crap... same thing here. Rear axle is un - shiftable which I only discovered when I went to fit a F/S belt tensioner. Not a problem though until next tire change then I will take the tires in, new bearings and the tensioner and get them to fit whilst I watch. (Better they shear the axle than me). Then, when its all done and I have paid my bill i'm going to tell them straight that they will never see another penny from me and why.

It is so easy to take the wheels off that I always do it myself to insure proper torque and also I can inspect it all. Plus I also slather anti-sieze on rear axle. It is also cheaper to take wheel in for a tire replacements. I agree with earlier posts it seems as if something is very wrong.
