i'd like to polish my primary cover to a mirror finish, does any body have any suggestions that my give me that result? i thought maybe sanding it with a 2000 grit paper and then buffing it out. will that work or would i just damage the cover...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...thanx to all

That WOULD work but it'd take about a thousand sheets of 2000 grit to get it right. You have to creep up on it using progresively finer grits. I'm guessing I'd start with a 400 grit until the scratches are fairly uniform. Then follow with 600, 800, 1200. I'd use the 800+ wet. Or, stop at 600 then hit it with a buffing wheel. It's not difficult but it's also something you don't rush, you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly. It you skip a step with sand papar it'll never shine to it's full potential. It you hit it too hard or too long with the buffer you'll actually dig grooves and it won't be uniform. The hardest part will be the bolt holes. Wrap the sandpaper around a pencil. Start the process with a paint stripper like you get at walmart. You don't want to have to sand through all that PC. AND WEAR A MASK. Let me repeat. WEAR A MASK. Powdered aluminum dust his HORRIBLE for your respiratory system.
