Besides owning a Buell I also own a HD Ultra with a SE 103 engine. I've made the mod of re-routing the breather hoses out of the air box on my Uly and did notice a performance improvement. Is there a similiar way to do this on a Twin Cam engine. I'm thinking that I could use a banjo fitting and route the breathers to a catch can with a hose same as the Buell.

Mark,

I did the breather mod on my Buell M2 (first H-D engine I've ever had) and then sold that and moved on to a '97 Dyna FXD.

The FXD was dripping oil from breather so I did a similar thing to that too. I cut off the two rubber breather connector tubes, attached 5/16" rubber hose with double ended barbs, took them down to a 5/16" barbed "T" that was located at the air inlet at the bottom of the backplate/air box. From the "T" I ran a 5/16" tube back between the pushrod tubes and then forward and down under the engine.

I have a small gas filter on the end of that tubing as a "catch can". It has worked perfect for a few thousand miles and the drips from the air cleaner are gone.

I don't know how the Twin Cam compares to the Big Twins as far as the bits and pieces in the air cleaner and inlet area but something like you want to do should work there.

I used right angle banjos on the breather outlets on the Buell because I had an aftermarket air cleaner. I would do something similar if I got rid of the stock backplate and air cleaner on the FXD.

Jack

Check out J&P Cycle or Dennis Kirk or other Harley parts joints. They make tons of kits to do what you want.

Drag Specialties makes a kit to do exactly this. Banjo bolts with tubing to a filter. If you look at the picture on my BadWeB profile, you can see mine installed on my Sportster engine, right below the air cleaner cover. The breather filter is even chromed...
