I've been playing with the search and not coming up with anything. So here goes..

I have an 05 XB12S (blue). I like the translucent orange on the 07s. I am 99% sure that the airbox cover and windscreen will fit no problems. I know the 07's have all of the cutouts on the black plastic under the airbox cover, and that mesh near the gas cap.

My question is, if I change out the airbox to the orange and the inside box as well (so you can see the airfilter, etc..). Will I need to do something with the ECM to deal with the change in the amount of air being fed in?

Thanks,
-Patrick

"Need" is a relative word. I don't think you'd have to change it if you are still running the stock air filter. But my advice would be to upgrade filter, exhaust, and ecm before body panels. There is a lot of good stuff out there, but the race kit is a good bang for the buck.
If you're not sure about the performance mods yet, do your body panels (I agree, they look pretty good, and doubt you'd regret it) Then decide later on the race kit or similar.
Good luck, and post some pics!

Doon,
Swapping out the inner airbox shouldn't be problem. You usually get into problems when you change to a performance exhaust.

The Valencia orange A/B and flyscreen will set you back in the $200 range +/-. You will need to either dye your fender and chin spoiler black or pick up black parts on eBay.

Thanks,

I am not a performance junky and my bike stock has way more power/grunt then I actually need. So I have need need to add the aftermarket exhaust/airfilters etc. I do like the look of the translucent and thought about changing. Toona, do they not sell the black fender/chin fairings? Or is it just easier to get them on epay ?

The fender and chin spoiler are available from Buell new. The front fender runs around $85. The chin spoiler will need to be ordered in 3 pieces, left colored side, grey center (unless you order it for a CityX, then it comes in black) and the right colored side. I'm not sure on the total cost of the chin, but I think it was in the $100 +/- range complete.

I just recommended eBay because you can usually score good used pieces for 1/2 to 3/4 of the new retail pricing. If it goes over the 3/4 price benchmark, I usually just buy new.

Yellow seems to be the least desired color, although I personally like it, black the toughest to score used-most desired.

You can save some money sometimes on used parts on e-bay. I've saved some buying new from St.Paul Harley that sells on e-bay, just call and ask for the person for the internet (articles or apparel) and see what kind of deal they will give. They will usually cut 10 to 15%.
On the chin spoiler, drill out the pop rivets and use the 10/32 bolt for the fly screen plus nylon washer, flat washer and lock nut. I like to change color on my 03 I had. black and yellow, sold it now have 07 in cherry bomb and an 07 air box cover, fender, fly screen, and chin fairing sides that are flat black, I'll paint gloss black with red metal flake. Good riding Dave
