This is a letter I wrote to Harley/Buell:

I wanted to take this time to notify you of a parts shop out of North San Diego called American Sport Bike. You may have heard of this company, but the shop owner, Al, deserves alot of credit. I've had my bike over a year, and since installing an aftermarket exhaust and a few other parts the bike became a paperweight. Every dealer or shop I took it to couldn't figure out why. They tried putting stock parts on with no effect. And every time I left the dealer a new problem came up.

Your Southern California dealers have a notorious reputation for destroying every Buell they touch. I've been to nearly every shop and dealer in Southern California with no luck, until I found Al's company. They mainly sell parts and accessories and do Direct-link Remapping, which is how I found them. Before we did the mapping Al took 6 hours of his time on a Saturday to fix ALL the problems that your Dealers created over the past 12 months. This was not something I expected or even hoped for knowing American Sport Bike is a parts shop. But Al took time out his personal day on a Saturday to help a fellow Buell Owner. Something I have never heard of any Buell/Harley dealer do.

Your shop mechanics can learn alot from AL, as his experience spans nearly 15yrs. I'd like this letter to serve as both a complaint about Southern California Harley/Buell Dealers and as a wake up to the recognition a shop like Al's deserves.

Without guys like Al, Buell would not be where it is today. Without dealers like those Shaiss has had experience with, Buell could be so much further!

Thanks again Al for our recent business and I look forward to doing more business with you in the future!!

I agree 100% with Nausting. Thats why I say Buell needs to send their techs to train with Al. I think Al could tech Eric Buell a thing or 2.

Al, why dont you just design your own bike and we'd all buy that ;)

Thanks for the good words, guys. I doubt there's much I could teach EriK about bike design, though. He's forgotten more about this stuff than I've ever known.

I'm glad we were able to get your bike sorted, Shai. Funny thing, another guy brought his bike to the shop today and his front motor mount looked just like yours.

I have to agree with all the positive comments about Al @American Sport Bike. I'm out in Colorado so my experiences were over the phone and email. Al has helped me sort my exhaust, frnt motor mount, frnt engine isolater etc, etc. As well as supplying some great CF! And Joanne has been great with getting the parts to me quickly, in good shape, and letting me know what was happening with my orders. They are the best!!

Two things that have kept me on a Blast and a CityX-BadWeb and American Sport Bike.

I recently purchased a 2006 Ulysses. My first real ride ended at the end of my block with a broken belt. I ordered one from American Sport Bike and received personal e-mails from Al telling me they had it in stock and it was shipping right away. The belt arrived as fast as it possibly could and got me back on the road.
American Sport Bike will be my go-to parts supplier.

Were the tires recently changed before the belt broke? Could be coincidence, but....

If so get somebody else to do the tire change next time, or have them read the manual first.
