Just bought X1 millenium. Had the 5000 mile service done at an independent shop. The tech says the bike is in great shape. I have a few minor concerns. Now I'm no riding rookie. I've owned dozens of rice in line fours. But I've never heard this much valve noise form any bike. I'd just like to know if this is normal. Is it normal to get a little oil coming out of the air cleaner area? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Valvetrain noise is normal.

Oil being expelled from the air cleaner may indicate slight overfilling. Ensure that you only check oil when the bike has been thoroughly warmed up and thenb only immediately following shutdown. Then avoid filling the oil past halfway full on the dipstick, halfway between "full" and "low".

If you still see oil mist in your intake, you might want to have a compression and leak-down test performed to confirm the health of your top end.

Also try running a good quality 20W50 synthetic engine oil like the H-D Syn-3.

Let us know how the oil issue turns out for you. : )
